Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to push on to commercial manager level? Do you want a genuine opportunity to put your stamp on a senior role, develop and implement new processes, and carve a clear path toward Commercial Manager and General Manager level.

Hybrid working model and you will only be required to travel 2-3 days per month!!

MCS are exclusively working with a leading specialist contract with multiple divisions who are seeking a commercially driven and detail-oriented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, supporting a portfolio of high-spec joinery, fit-out, and manufacturing projects across the London & the UK. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring financial efficiency, cost control, and contractual compliance on a variety of bespoke and large-scale projects within the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Lead on cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare detailed BOQs, tender documents, and procurement strategies
  • Monitor and manage subcontractor accounts, variations, and final accounts
  • Negotiate contracts, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards
  • Provide commercial support to project managers and liaise with design, procurement, and manufacturing teams
  • Conduct valuations, cash flow analysis, and ensure timely applications for payment
  • Mentor junior members of the commercial team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a QS role, preferably within manufacturing, joinery, or fit-out environments
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, solution-focused mindset
  • Excellent understanding of contracts (JCT/NEC) and construction law
  • Skilled in cost control, procurement, value engineering, and financial reporting
  • Confident communicator and negotiator, with experience dealing with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Proficient in relevant QS software (e.g., Causeway, Excel, etc.)
