Principal Java Developer

The Principal Java Engineer will join an existing, scaling software engineering team to take on responsibility for the a specific function of their core software platform - in a fast-paced role which will encompass development, architecture and the mentoring and coaching of junior software engineers

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Principal Java Engineer to join a small, yet hugely successful team headed up an incredibly passionate Head of Engineering. The Role:

• The Principal Engineer will lead the design and architecture of complex, high-scale applications using Java and AWS.

• Yiu'll set engineering best practices and drive adoption of cloud-native solutions.

• You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams (interfacing with product and work closely with hardware engineering teams) to deliver robust, scalable, and secure systems.

• You'll provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of innovation in this scaling business.

• You'll stay ahead of industry trends, seeking to continuously improve the tech stack and engineering processes.

The Person

• Expertise in Java (latest versions), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.

• Strong experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, etc.).

• Proven track record in designing distributed, scalable systems.

• Leadership experience in mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for modern software engineering.

Salary

• Up to £85,000 with a competitive benefits package which includes 10% bonus and share options.
