Job Title: Materials and Contracts Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Materials and Contracts Manager to oversee the effective management of materials, contracts, and procurement activities within our clients engineering and operational environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring seamless coordination between internal teams and external suppliers while managing contracts and maintaining compliance with relevant health, safety, and legal standards. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a solid understanding of lean operations and financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Materials Management: Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials to ensure the availability of resources for operational needs, while minimizing costs and wastage.
- Contracts Management: Manage and negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors, ensuring compliance with terms, conditions, and financial targets.
- Interface Management: Act as a key point of contact between engineering, operations, and external suppliers to streamline processes and ensure effective communication.
- Lean Operations: Implement and oversee Lean Management principles to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement in the materials and supply chain processes.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets, control expenditures, and monitor financial performance in relation to contracts and material resources.
- Trade Union Engagement: Liaise with Trade Unions, ensuring effective communication and engagement, especially in relation to workforce matters affecting material handling and contracts.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and employment legislation.
- Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team within an engineering or stores environment, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative and efficient working culture.
- Medical Standards: Maintain the necessary physical and medical standards as required for the role.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in managing interfaces within engineering or operational environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Lean Management/Operations principles.
- Strong experience in contract and financial management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing teams in engineering or stores environments.
- Familiarity with health, safety, environmental, and employment regulations.
- Ability to meet required medical standards for the position.
