Java Engineer - Contract

MCS Group is working with a leading financial organisation as they look for a Contract Java Engineer to join them for a daily rate contract. This is your chance to work with the world's leading derivatives marketplace! This Contract Java Engineer will work on a data-heavy application which will be used by traders and trading companies, and this is your chance to get hands-on with Greenfield development in this niche area of financial services.

The Role

• You will join a powerhouse in the global trading scene as they continue their journey of Cloud Transformation across the organisation and it's one you'll definitely want to get involved with!
• Gain exposure to ultra low latency applications.
• You will get involved in everything from discussions at architectural level, to design & development and hands on coding (Java).
• You will champion development best-practice, reviewing code to ensure integrity and using your problem solving skills to identify solutions to potential issues.

The Person

• You will have extensive commercial experience with Core Java, with proven ability to write solid, clean code.
• Ideally you will have experience of BDD, and have worked in an Agile environment.
• Previous experience of Java Development on low latency / financial trading platforms or applications is highly desirable.
• Given the data intensive nature of this team/project, experience with SQL, ETL, Apache Beam, Google Data Query and Big Query is highly desirable.
• This role can wait for 4 weeks for someone to start, so is perfect if you have a 4 week notice period.

Length: 6 months initially
Rate: Highly competitive rate / Depending on previous experience
IR35: Inside
Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in the office in Belfast Northern Ireland required)
