IT Database Administrator



Role Overview:
We are looking for a Database Controller to manage and maintain the database, ensuring that details, ticket prices, and ticket types are applied accurately and consistently across three operating companies. The role also includes providing essential customer service, addressing technical and non-technical inquiries.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Manage tables and product topology for our clients services, ensuring accurate data entry and consistency across all systems.
  • System Updates: Ensure all information is correctly updated in Cloudfare/Waycon systems and keep auditable records of all modifications.
  • GPS Software Management: Oversee GPS systems, ensuring all updates are recorded and applied correctly.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve device and software issues, providing support for any technical faults within the system.
  • Smartcard & Ticketing Databases: Maintain and update the tables and associated ticketing databases.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical assistance for mobile ticketing working with suppliers to log, diagnose, and resolve customer issues.
  • Administrative Support: Assist in the management of the flexi system and absence records when required, providing coverage for the Merit Administrator.


Key Competencies:
Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Strong understanding of fare structures.
    • At least 1 year of experience in an IT or database-related role.
  • Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), including English and Maths, or 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and lateral thinking to achieve goals.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and database management.
    • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.


Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime or on weekends as needed.
  • Ability to meet pre-employment medical requirements.
