Job Title: Python Backend Developer

Location: London (Old Gate, near Liverpool Street Station)
Package: £90,000-£100,000 + Stock Options, Pension Top-Up, 25 Days Holiday
Work Setup: Hybrid (3 days in office minimum, ideally open to 4)

About the Role:

My client, an innovative financial technology firm, is at the cutting edge of data analysis, utilising advanced machine learning to analyse the macros of security classes and portfolios. They work with the world's largest hedge funds, providing deep insights and seamless integration with client systems. With major investment coming soon and a growing team, they are looking for a talented Python Backend Developer to join their team.

You'll be part of a dynamic, small, and highly skilled engineering team that delivers excellence and drives continuous improvement. The role offers significant ownership of projects, with the potential for the right candidate to grow into a leadership position, with future opportunities to evolve into the CTO role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Understanding: Drive the efficiency, performance, and scalability of the architecture, identifying bottlenecks and implementing best practices.
• Cloud Integration: Manage cloud processes (AWS) and ensure seamless integration with client APIs.
• System Capacity Management: Monitor, assess, and scale system infrastructure to meet future requirements.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Handle large datasets, generate reports, and present insights to stakeholders.
• Automation: Leverage Python and VBA to automate tasks, streamline processes, and build custom tools.

Tech Stack:

• Languages: Python, SQL, Bash
• Cloud: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, CloudFormation, SNS, EC2, S3, ElastiCache, CloudWatch)
• DevOps: GitLab, Git
• Environment: Linux

What We're Looking For:

• 8-10 years of experience, ideally from a financial or quantitative background.
• Strong Python and VBA skills, along with a good understanding of cloud infrastructure and DevOps.
• A background in mathematics, science, or engineering with a genuine understanding of finance.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset - someone eager to grow with a smaller firm and take ownership of projects.
• A complete all-rounder who can lead both frontend and backend initiatives.
